How it works
The method
Find informed support. Get to know the people behind it.
Well-Advised is built on three things: Cohorts where lawyers explore a work or wellbeing question and meet relevant advisers, Pods of 3 to 9 lawyers who meet for focused 30-minute Sessions with specialist input where it helps, and Sprints: the work you do between sessions and plan and discuss in your Pods.
Adapted from well-established research and techniques used in other industries, like Agile, Peter Drucker's 'Knowledge Worker' analysis and Daniel Pink's Autonomy Mastery Purpose research, the Well-Advised approach is symbolised by Anteros.
Lawyers, professional to their core, haven't historically talked much about the Anteros concept ("for love to prosper it must be requited") but requited love is as essential in this sector as any other: clients and colleagues need to appreciate the work lawyers do; lawyers need to check in with themselves and how they are handling a demanding job in a time of rapid change. There are people out there with useful contributions to make, but lawyers are time-poor and sceptical.
Well-Advised works with the grain, allowing lawyers to approach the offerings of Advisers in the same way as they do everything else: cautiously and in stages, with direct feedback from other lawyers on the same path.
An open group for lawyers exploring a shared work or wellbeing question. Follow relevant advisers, ideas and peer experience.
A focused group of 3 to 9 lawyers who learn and act together, with an adviser involved where their expertise adds value.
The practical step you take between Sessions. Test an idea, change a habit or move a decision forward, then share what you learned.
How Pod Sessions work
- Week 0You join a Cohort and apply to a Pod.
- Week 1Session 1 — meet your Pod, set your intent, plan your first Sprint.
- Week 2Session 2 — share what you tried, plan the next Sprint.
- Week 3Session 3 — go again, maybe try what someone else shared.
- Week 4Session 4 — go deeper, hold each other to it.
- Week 5Session 5 — share what changed, then pick the next.
